Custom & Specialty Materials
Specialty label materials and custom sourcing
We can source basically any material you need. While our stock catalog covers direct thermal, thermal transfer, and standard films, some applications demand more. Whether you need extreme high-temperature Polyonics Polyimide for PCB reflow, ESD-safe materials for electronics, or flame retardant films for aerospace, we partner with top material manufacturers to get you the right label.
- Polyimide (PI) labels for extreme heat and PCB tracking
- ESD-Safe materials for static-sensitive electronic components
- Flame Retardant polyester and polyimide (halogen-free)
- Laser Markable Labels (LML) for high-contrast ablation
Polyonics Polyimide (PI) for PCB manufacturing
For printed circuit board (PCB) tracking, standard labels melt or degrade. Polyonics Apex series polyimide labels are engineered specifically for multi-cycle PCB manufacturing.
These high-performance materials maintain barcode readability and image integrity through extreme high-temperature reflow, wave soldering, and exposure to aggressive chemical fluxes and cleaners.
ESD-Safe and static control
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can instantly destroy sensitive electronic components during assembly. ESD-safe labels provide a protective barrier against static electricity.
Our custom ESD-safe polyimide and polyester tags are formulated with low-charging adhesives and static-dissipative topcoats to keep your electronics manufacturing lines compliant and safe.
Flame Retardant labels
In aerospace, automotive, and electrical infrastructure, fire safety is non-negotiable. Flame retardant materials are designed to create a protective char layer when exposed to heat.
This char layer controls heat transfer and suppresses the release of flammable gases and oxygen. We source halogen-free flame retardant PET and PI materials to meet strict flammability standards.

FAQ
Can you source materials that aren't in your main catalog?
Yes. Our online catalog features our most popular stock dies and materials, but our custom team can source basically any material, including specialty Polyonics films, 3M industrial vinyls, and more.
What makes Polyonics polyimide different from standard thermal transfer labels?
Polyimide (PI) is engineered for extreme environments. While standard thermal transfer polyester might fail around 300°F, Polyonics PI labels can withstand temperatures up to 572°F (300°C), making them essential for PCB reflow and harsh chemical washes.
How do I order a custom material?
Navigate to our Custom Labels page and submit a Request for Quote (RFQ). Specify your required material in the notes (e.g., 'Need Polyonics XT-600' or 'Requires ESD-safe polyimide'), and our ops team will provide a wholesale quote.
