Freezer-grade & cold-storage thermal labels

Cold-chain and blast-freezer barcode labels formulated with aggressive all-temp and freezer-grade adhesives (-20°F minimum application down to -65°F service) so case, pallet, and shrink-wrap labels never pop off in sub-zero storage.

  • Freezer-grade and all-temp adhesives rated down to -65°F (-54°C) service temperatures
  • Low minimum application temperatures (-20°F to +10°F) for cold-room and cooler labeling
  • Available on topcoated direct thermal paper, thermal transfer paper, or moisture-proof poly film
  • Free physical sample swatches available to test in your actual blast freezer before ordering

Why standard shipping labels fail in cold storage and blast freezers

Standard general-purpose permanent acrylic and hot-melt adhesives have a minimum application temperature around +32°F to +40°F. When applied to chilled corrugated boxes, poultry trays, or frosted shrink wrap in a cooler, the adhesive turns brittle and glassy—causing labels to curl at the corners and fall off on the rack.

Freezer-grade and all-temp adhesives stay soft and tacky at sub-freezing temperatures, flowing into cold corrugated fibers and low-surface-energy LDPE shrink films even when applied at -20°F and stored down to -65°F.

Choosing between topcoated paper and synthetic poly for cold chains

For dry corrugated master cartons moving through refrigerated docks and sub-zero freezer racks, topcoated direct thermal or thermal transfer paper with all-temp freezer adhesive provides economical, high-contrast barcode scanning.

When packages go through wet washdowns, ice-pack condensation, or freeze-thaw cycles that turn paper face stocks soft, upgrade to a direct thermal or thermal transfer polypropylene (poly) film paired with freezer-grade adhesive for 100% waterproof durability.

Validate adhesion in your freezer with a free B2B sample pack

Cold-chain adhesion depends heavily on whether your cartons are recycled corrugated, waxed poultry boxes, or frosted poly bags—and whether labels are applied before or after freezing. Request a free commercial sample pack or submit your temperature profile in our Custom Quote Wizard, and our Little Rock team will ship physical freezer swatches within 1 business day.

FAQ

Can freezer-grade labels be applied to boxes that are already frozen?

True blast-freezer adhesives can be applied at temperatures as low as -20°F onto clean, frost-free surfaces, while all-temp adhesives are designed to be applied in cool rooms (+10°F and above) before entering -65°F freezer storage. Tell us whether you apply labels before or after freezing so we match the exact adhesive coat weight.

Should I use direct thermal or thermal transfer labels in a freezer?

Both work well when paired with a freezer-grade adhesive. Topcoated direct thermal rolls eliminate ribbon changeovers on mobile cold-storage carts, while thermal transfer paper or poly film with a wax/resin ribbon offers maximum longevity for multi-month frozen inventory.

Can I test freezer label samples on our cartons before buying pallet quantities?

Yes. Request our complimentary B2B sample pack at /sample-pack and note your cooler/freezer temperatures and packaging surface so we can include matched freezer-tack and poly film swatches.
